New Order - Cokes Dry Quenching 2 sets from FORMOSA HA-TINH STEEL CORPORATION

NIPPON STEEL & SUMIKIN ENGINEERING CO., LTD.(NSENGI) (Shinichi Fujiwara, Representative Director and President) has been contracted for 2 sets of 200t/h capacity Coke Dry Quenching (CDQ) plants from FORMOSA HA-TINH STEEL CORPORATION (hereinafter "FHS") located in Ha-Tinh province, Vietnam.

CDQ is a system where hot coke, which is discharged from the coke oven at a temperature of approximately 1,000°C, is cooled and kept dry with inert gas, and the waste heat is recovered by a boiler as steam. Furthermore, the steam is used to generate electricity.
Compared to the existing conventional wet quenching type (CWQ), CDQ brings FHS advantages such as reduction of dust emissions, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions.

One of the features of the CDQ plants ordered by FHS is that the chamber capacity is much larger than a typical CDQ constructed in the world. NSENGI's state of the art technology for large capacity CDQ plants has been attained through many years of research, development, and experience. This allows to keep the cooling efficiency high and to maximize the electricity generation, even for CDQs with over 200t/h capacity. Through international tendering and competition with Chinese suppliers, NSENGI was awarded this contract by FHS due to NSENGI CDQ plants' high reliability supported by more than sufficient supply records of large capacity CDQs with high and stable operation ratio of more than 95%.

This award also marks NSENGI's 125th and 126th orders for CDQ plants. NSENGI, as a leading company in the field of environmental protection and energy saving technology, will continue to contribute to the development of the iron and steel industry, and to the protection of the environment for FHS and Vietnam greatly for the future.
