Offshore Wind Business

NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING CO., LTD. is involved in construction of the world's first full-scale floating wind farm in waters off the Fukushima coast, based on our wide-ranging past experiences in offshore steel structure design and construction. We are contributing to the development of the renewable energy sector and the stability of energy supply as an offshore contractor capable of handling construction work on both types of offshore wind farm. This includes fixed-bottom wind farm projects—the market for which is expected to flourish in the coming years.

Seafloor Massive Sulfides (SMS) Development

NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING CO., LTD. participated in the national subsea mining project promoted by Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) for seafloor massive sulfides (SMS) and is developing an SMS mining system as a member of the consortium for offshore pilot testing in 2017.

Exploration System for Seafloor Mineral Deposits

NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING CO., LTD. has been developing highly-efficient exploration systems such as the electromagnetic measurement system towed by ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) in the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP).

Large-scale Open Water Aquaculture System

This is a system consisting of automated feeding equipment and large fish cages which enables fish farming in open ocean regions in which farming was previously impossible.
