Extension of Overseas Bases — Strengthening business power in important markets —

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering has extended its bases in order to further strengthen overseas business.

1. Strengthening business power in the Southeast Asia Region
1) The establishment of a Bangkok Representative Office to strengthen activities in the Greater Mekong Region (Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Laos)

2) The establishment of a Singapore Representative Office to unify the Southeast Asia Region

[Background: Activities and Market Awareness in Southeast Asia]
In Southeast Asia, we have been successful in the field of marine engineering and construction and steel manufacturing plant. In recent years, the onsite energy service business*1 has been started in Thailand and exploration for waste-to-energy market is in progress. The establishment of the Bangkok and Singapore Representative Offices will enhance an overall business structure which covers the entire Southeast Asia Region including the Hoh Chi Minh Representative Office, the Jakarta Representative Office and the subsidiary PNS CONSTRUCTION, INC located in the Philippines. This will lead to the further business expansion in the future.
The Singapore Representative Office will also coordinate with NIPPON STEEL & SUMITOMO METAL Southeast Asia Pte. Ltd. for the maximization of group synergy.

2. Strengthening business power in India

The subsidiary NIPPON STEEL & SUMIKIN ENGINEERING INDIA PVT. LTD has been expanding its businesses focusing on the steel manufacturing plant field in India. Considering the scale and growth in the Indian market, it will explore the business possibilities in other business fields, such as waste -to-energy business, the onsite energy service business, etc.

Employees stationed in Europe and South America are also putting forth efforts in expanding their sales support activities for the regions and products along with searching further information for business opportunities in growth markets.

*Business which provides equipment operation services (operation, maintenance and management) in addition to co-generation equipment engineering
