Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Yukito Ishiwa; Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that our application for the "Safety Management System for Manufacturing and Construction site worker by using image-sensing AI " promoted by THAI NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION LTD. (hereinafter referred to as TNS), our local subsidiary in Thailand, was selected in the public competition titled "The 2nd ASEAN-Japan DX Promotion Project" organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (President: Nobuhiko Sasaki, Minato-ku, Tokyo).

This project involves the development of an advanced safety monitoring system that can recognize and classify the status of on-site work in real time, evaluate safety, and warn workers of safety risks based on image information from CCTV cameras and other video devices installed in many yards and factories at TNS.

In collaboration with our partner in Thailand, AI and Robotics Ventures Company Limited, a technology development and venture building spin-off from PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited, Nippon Steel Engineering have developed a unique machine learning AI that can read on-site information from video. In addition to detecting objects, Nippon Steel Engineering are planning to introduce an "advanced safety monitoring system" that will minimize the risk of accidents by detecting and instantly sending out alarms to employees engaged in unsafe behaviors.
