An electric arc furnace is a steel making plant that melts iron sources such as scrap and direct-reduced iron (DRI) using electric energy. As electric arc furnaces use large amounts of electricity, the improvement of energy-efficiency has been a major issue in the past.
The scrap preheating is an effective method of improving the energy-efficiency of electric arc furnaces. We have a rich lineup of scrap preheating facilities that meet the wide-ranging needs of our clients. These include Ultimate Batch System (UL-BA), which maximizes the effectiveness of scrap preheating, and the NIPPON STEEL Continuous Feeding System (NSCF), which has environmental-friendliness at the center of its offering.
We also provide a waste gas processing system that protects the global environment and offers a better work environment, with elements including: a doghouse that is optimized by our dust dispersion analysis technology for improved working environment in the area surrounding the furnace; and dioxin reduction equipment such as combustion and quick quenching system and trombone cooler.
