A New Maintenance Service Business Hub for Offshore Wind Power Facilities

Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Yukito Ishiwa, Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, Japan; hereinafter referred to as "NSE") is pleased to announce its decision to establish "Northern Sea of Japan Branch" in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, for the purpose to utilize the unused land owned by NSE within the Niigata East Port as a business hub for maintenance services for offshore wind power facilities, effective as of April 1, 2025.

NSE plans to develop cross-regional maintenance service business that spans across multiple offshore areas along the Sea of Japan, such as Niigata, Yamagata, Akita, Aomori, and Hokuriku region, where offshore wind power development is progressing. This maintenance service business would include establishing a supply system for wind turbine components and temporary storage of spare parts. The newly established Northern Sea of Japan Branch will serve as a core base to expand networks with relevant stakeholders, promoting the business development of the maintenance services for offshore wind power facilities.

NSE has already established collaborative frameworks with Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore und Consulting GmbH, one of the world's leading O&M service providers, and Fukada Salvage & Marine Works Co., Ltd., who owns and operates various work vessels in Japan, to promote business development of O&M services for offshore wind power facilities. Furthermore NSE will set up the maintenance service base at Niigata East Port, which provides convenient access to multiple offshore wind power sites along the Sea of Japan and will be capable to offer competitive and comprehensive O&M services for offshore wind power facilities. With the newly established Northern Sea of Japan Branch and coming maintenance service base, NSE will strive to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
