Nippon Steel Engineering and Ramky Group Concluded Strategic MOU

Partnership to Leverage Waste Recycling Technology in India’s Environmental Infrastructure Projects

Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Yukito Ishiwa; Head Office: Tokyo, Japan; hereinafter, “NSE”) , and our consolidated subsidiary, Nippon Steel Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. (hereinafter, “NSEI”*1), are pleased to announce that NSE Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with three core companies of Ramky Group, India’s leading environmental and infrastructure conglomerate:

The MOU was signed with:

  • Ramky Infrastructure Limited (CEO: Sunil S. Nair, Headquarters: Hyderabad), the Ramky Group’s flagship company engaged in a wide range of large-scale infrastructure development projects;
  • Re-Sustainability Limited (Managing Director: Masood Alam Mallick, Headquarters: Hyderabad), a leading waste management and recycling company within Ramky Group; and
  • P9 LLC (CEO: Sayuri Matsuno, Headquarters: Fukuoka, Japan), Ramky Group’s Japanese subsidiary.

Nippon Steel Engineering Group has a proven track record of more than 20 EPC*2 projects in India, primarily for energy-saving plants for steelworks. Based on this MOU, NSE Group will collaborate with the above three companies to apply its advanced technologies and operational expertise cultivated in EPC and O&M*3 of Waste-to-Energy facilities and sewage sludge recycling and fuelization systems in Japan to the social demands in India. Through this collaboration, the parties aim to participate in waste management and environmental infrastructure projects promoted by the Government of India and local municipalities.

This MOU was concluded following extensive discussions among the parties, triggered by NSE’s participation in the “Intercity Collaboration Project for the Realization of a Decarbonized Society,” an initiative led by Kita-kyushu City in partnership with Ramky Group under a framework supported by Japan’s Ministry of Environment. The public-private partnership framework established through Kita-kyushu City’s efforts has evolved into concrete business collaboration, culminating in the signing of this strategic MOU.

By applying environmental and energy-saving technologies cultivated in Japan to help address India’s social and environmental challenges, Nippon Steel Engineering Group will strengthen its position as a leading supplier in these fields. The company remains committed to enhancing customer satisfaction, reducing global environmental impact, and contributing to the realization of a sustainable, circular society.
